By: Shahid Bin Waheed

All the praises and thanks be to Allaah, Sustainer of the Universe, and blessing and salutation to be the most distinguish of the Messengers and foremost among the Prophets, our Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allaah be on him and on his wives, children and Companions.

Us’Salaamu Alaikum

On October 30, 2006 I reported and requested your prayers about my auto accident and for being diagnosed with lung cancer. At that point two painful surgeries, radiation therapy and chemotherapy made us all think that it is probably over and I might be cancer free as there were too many reasons to think and/or believe that way.

However, that is not something that my Creator (Allaah) has as my fate for me. The results of my entire CT scans, MRIs’ and other lab works have confirmed that I must go through with more trials before meeting my Creator. The cancer has spread further in my body. It started with lung cancer and now I have cancer in my chest beside lung cancer and also I have cancer in my bones as well. So it is now lung cancer, bone cancer and chest cancer (I am not sure about the medical term for this).

This is Allaah’s Will and I submit to that with all my willingness and submission. I am ready and I say, Allaah has created the cancer and only Allaah can cure it, if He Wills. Otherwise what can be better for me than, meeting MY CREATOR!

Today i.e. Monday, March 26, 2007, I saw my Oncologist and it was a detailed meeting after examination. My Oncologist informed me that I have about a year to live with treatment. If I decline the Chemo than I have 4-6 months to live.

Qur’aan 2:156
الَّذِينَ إِذَا أَصَابَتْهُم مُّصِيبَةٌ قَالُواْ إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعونَ

Who, when afflicted with calamity, say: "Truly! To Allah we belong and truly, to Him we shall return."

I knew all along that the sun (of my life) is about to set (ميری زندگی كا آفتاب مائل بہ غروب ہے) when I want to leave and/or depart from this world to meet My Creator I like to hear the following Ayaah since it has always been my dream and/or a wish.

Surah Fussilat 30
Verily, those who say: "Our Lord is Allâh (Alone)," and then they stand firm, on them the angels will descend (at the time of their death) (saying): "Fear not, nor grieve! But receive the glad tidings of Paradise, which you have been promised!

My family and I thank you for all your prayers and supports and we pray to Allaah that He rewards you in this world and in the Hereafter abundantly. It is not possible for us to individually thank each and every one of you, who have from around the world comforted us and have prayed for us during this time of trial and suffering.

Wasalaamu Alaikum to you and your all.

All one can say is: Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raj’oon.

This is Allah SWT’s wisdom, no one asks Him why He does what He does.

Know brother Shahid that whatever happens to you is the best that could happen. Allah SWT’s destiny in all good.

Of course, doctors have been wrong in the past, and some of those diagnosed with cancer lived longer than the doctors said.

Let us remember brother Shahid and his family in our Du’as.

May Allah SWT grant you and all of us a good ending, and to grant your family patience and acceptance of Allah’s decree.

And may He SWT make your work on the internet a source of continuous reward.
