السلام عليكم ياأيها المحبة

I had a discussion with a brother, and what arose to our attention is that the attack on the deen of Islam has advanced since the days when this attack was solely on the Book of Allaah, to now when the misguided misguiders are delving into the hadith, tafseer and seerah, to try and find some kind of text for them to play with. And what we noted is the average kaafir on the net is using (by copy and pasting polemic) this sheer amount of material that the people of polemic have ammassed and spreads it to places as open as youtube and the likes.

Why do i mention this? It came upon me like a tonne of bricks that due to the ignorance of the Muslims, and their distance from the prementioned sciences, they are good game for such trickery.

However, Ive noticed that their arguments are very weak, and many times it only takes for one to check their sources and the twisting of the text is apparent.

It seems that many need to exposed for their lacking of basic knowledge of the arabic language or even for their 'shortsightedness' in not reading much of what they post, indicating their lack of proof reading and intellect.

For one to be good at refuting them (seeking Allaahs pleasure) and exposing them to make clear alhaqq from albaatil what techniques should be employed? And how should the tone be with them?

Jazaka Allah khairan brother Abu Ali for your insightful thoughts. I may as well add my personal thoughts.

What I'd like to draw attention to is the fact that Christians don't intend - by their trials to discredit Islam - to attack Islam so that it is adequate of us to refute their arguments regarding our Deen.

Nay, Islam is always the offensive and the one that attacks. For example, it attacks using the linguistic miracle of the Qur'an, so Christian missionaries but work to camouflage this miracle by the allegation of grammatical errors. They cannot face the challenge or oppose the outstanding miracle, so they manage to camouflage it.

If they are able to keep Muslims busy with refuting these alleged grammatical errors, they do succeed .. Why?

Because these Muslims, who have just answered these alleged errors and stopped, did not go attack with the miracle of the Qur'an. Their ultimate goal is to "refute" the errors and "defend" the Qur'an.

This is exactly the goal of missionaries; because the Muslims did not attack with the Qur'an which is very dangerous. It is dangerous that lay Christians may recognize presence of Qur'anic miraculous nature.

The Muslims are happy for achieving a glorious victory in "defending" the Qur'an, and the missionaries are also happy for not exposing lay Christians to the miracle of the Qur'an.

Some Muslims may say: Don't stop at defending the Qur'an! Go refute their Bible!

This also agrees with goals of missionaries, because their Book is already refuted whether by Muslims or others.

The ultimate danger is to attack with the Qur'an!

Christian missionaries are obliged to camouflage the miracle of the Qur'an, Muslims stand and refute the camouflage, then stop. Both parts are happy, but the argument of the Qur'an is missed.

Another example is the allegation of plagiarism. Christian missionaries will never admit that the Qur'an is the continuation of Allah's previous messages to mankind and that it agrees with all previous messages in monotheism, teachings and worship which proves its divine origin.

So, they are obliged to camouflage this agreement with the charge of plagiarism and borrowing. They will repeat it over and over, because they have no other choice.

This is how things really are.

Take also the alleged immoral acts of the Prophet (saws), they are nothing compared with his immense good manners, let alone the perverted way missionaries conceive and create their allegations against the Prophet (saws).

So they work to camouflage these good manners in order that lay Christians cannot recognize the virtues of our beloved Prophet (saws).

Every aspect that can prove the truthfulness of Islam is targeted by Christian missionaries to camouflage it and keep Muslims busy "defending" it.

The point is that mere defense of Islam and criticism of the Bible are insufficient especially this Bible has been already refuted by all; Muslims and non-Muslims. Moreover, driving Christians out of their religion is inadequate for us. We need go back to the Qur'an and use it to attack.

This does not mean that I'm against defending Islam or criticism of Christian Scripture and doctrines. I only call my brethren to put things in their right places. Defense shouldn't be our ultimate goal, we should resort to the basis of Da'wah which is display of Qur'anic facts and proofs of truthfulness of Islam, prophethood of Muhammad (saws) and divine origin of the Qur'an.

Assalaamu alaykum,

I agree on attacking with the Quran brother Moumen, the challenges the Book of Allah puts forward is the ultimate assault, rather than trying to 'outwit' them.

I started reading the article that the sister has been translating, very usefull maa shaa Allah.

Moumen, when some Kuffar are trying to pin Islam on the basis of womens rights, homo rights, equality etc, I normally try and go back to the asl that Allah is our Supreme Creator and Lawgiver, and thus that what He gives us is perfect as is expected of any of His works, and what they try and talk of in terms of the laws and legislation is fallible, as it is comes from the desires and corrupted intellects of men, thus coming back to proving what is right, man made laws that they follow blindly or a divine revelation that has miracles proving its origin and authenticity, therefore putting forward to them the miraculous nature of the Quran which they cannot match. Is there a better way of dealing with such issues that they bring up in these fields?

wa 'alaikum assalam wa rahmatullah wa barakatoh,

Jazaka Allah khairan for your input. This approach in answering these allegations related to Islamic Shari'ah is the best and saves much time, I personally prefer it. There are other ways of course that depend upon logic and rational reasoning, they differ according to the opponent and require experienced skillful Muslim arguer in order to convince your opponent and overcome him with your logic. In order for you to develop these skills and the art of persuasion, you have to read much and learn from scholars. You will hear a piece here and read a piece there, so your knowledge increases and your skills grow. If you choose your sheikhs well and your readings, you can develop this skill in a short time, insha'Allah.

Anyway, rest assured that we -Muslims- are not deficient in logic or reason and our Deen agrees with healthy human nature and sound logic, this should be the basis of our argumentation.

The preferable way is to invite others to Islam and show them the merits and truthfulness of this Deen. This is how our Da'wah should be.

It is noteworthy that accusations against Islam regarding its Shari'ah like woman treatment do not stem from the argument that woman treatment -for example- defies logic or justice, it is not like that. From my limited experience, I noticed that most accusations stem from the argument that Islam is false, so its Shari'ah must be criticized and refuted. This is the actual reason why they attack Islam, so using logic and reason will not convince them or accomplish your purpose, so you better target their basis and show them the truthfulness of Islam.

This is my opinion, wa Allah a'lam.
