السلام عليكم ياأيها المحب
How do those Ulamaa who have memorized 1000s of hadith, 100s of matns in addition to the Quran and Allah knows best what else, how do they find the time to retain that knowledge in addition to time for it's muraaja3ah? Please tell me as i have a hard enough time trying to finish tilaawat ilQuraan in 7-10 days and revising some basic texts.
And with Allaah is the Tawfiq.

Wa Alaykum Asalam wa Rahmat Allah wa Barakatuh,
Excellent question.
I've always wondered the same thing.
I'm having trouble revising the few ajza' of Quran I've memorized, so mashAllah to those who Allah blessed with good memories and that only comes with much much patience.

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم و الصلاة و السلام على قائد الغر المحجلين
و عليكم السلام و رحمة الله و بركاته
It is very simple ( smile)
Just follow the following steps:
1) have sincerity and maintain your intention every day
Umar bin Alkhattab narrated the prophet ( صلى الله عليه و سلم ) said: " actions are judged based on intentions" [ Agreed upon]
2) Seek Allah's reward and let the reward be a motivation for you
Narrated By Abu al-Darda': Kathir ibn Qays said: I was sitting with Abu al-Darda' in the mosque of Damascus. A man came to him and said: AbudDarda, I have come to you from the town of the Apostle of Allah (pbuh) for a tradition that I have heard you relate from the Apostle of Allah (pbuh). I have come for no other purpose. He said: I heard the Apostle of Allah (pbuh) say: If anyone travels on a road in search of knowledge, Allah will cause him to travel on one of the roads of Paradise. The angels will lower their wings in their great pleasure with one who seeks knowledge, the inhabitants of the heavens and the Earth and the fish in the deep waters will ask forgiveness for the learned man [ Sunan Abi Dawd: Hadith 3641]
3) repent from sins and whenever you find it difficult to memorize or revise then perform Wudu, pray two Rak'a and seek Allah's forgiveness.
Shaikh Al-Islam; Ibn Taymyya ( رحمه الله ) used to pray two Rak'a and ask Allah's forgiveness when he stuck with a question he tries to find its answer.[ cannot recall the Ref. as I read it long time ago]
4). whenever you find yourself bored or getting lazy do something else:
'Aisha reported that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said:..: O people, perform such acts as you are capable of doing, for Allah does not grow weary but you will get tired. The acts most pleasing to Allah are those which are done continuously, even if they are small. [ Agreed upon]
5) Get rid off you TV and whatever considered as distraction. IN other words change your life style to a simple one ( if it is not, smile)
6) Follow the advice of Imam Sufyan Bin U'aiaina ( رحمه الله ) when he said:
Knowledge needs four things to be fulfilled:
a. Memorization b. applying what you learn on your life c. listening and paying attention to others d. spread the knowledge you learnt [ Sunan Al-darami: athar Number 330]
7. Keep making Dua'aa that Allah make it easier for you
Wallahu A'lam
