can you brothers/sisters provide me with a clear explanation of who are ahlul bayt?
and also i was talking to this shiaa and he asked the following:
The Qur'an has no errors or contradictions in it right?
, then why are there TWO DIFFERENT things that Allah says, is the ONLY reward that Muhammad may ask of his people?
25:57 Say: I do not ask you aught in return except that he who will, may take the way to his Lord
And...
42:23 Say: I do not ask of you any reward for it but love for my near relatives.
How is this possible?
then he respond:
well logicaly, in order for the Quran to have no Errors, these two verses would have to mean the exact same thing, which means (dum dum dum...)...
That Love for the Ahul bayt IS the way to Allah.

From the tafsir of ibn Kathir:
[قُل لاَّ أَسْـَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ أَجْراً إِلاَّ الْمَوَدَّةَ فِى الْقُرْبَى]
(Say: "No reward do I ask of you for this except to be kind to me for my kinship with you.'') means, `say, O Muhammad, to these idolators among the disbeliever of Quraysh: I do not ask you for anything in return for this message and sincere advice which I bring to you. All I ask of you is that you withhold your evil from me and let me convey the Messages of my Lord. If you will not help me, then do not disturb me, for the sake of the ties of kinship that exist between you and I.' Al-Bukhari recorded that Ibn `Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, was asked about the Ayah:
[إِلاَّ الْمَوَدَّةَ فِى الْقُرْبَى]
(except to be kind to me for my kinship with you.) Sa`id bin Jubayr said, "To be kind to the family of Muhammad.'' Ibn `Abbas said, "No, you have jumped to a hasty conclusion. There was no clan among Quraysh to whom the Prophet did not have some ties of kinship.'' Ibn `Abbas said, "Except that you uphold the ties of kinship that exist between me and you.'' This was recorded by Al-Bukhari. It was also recorded by Imam Ahmad with a different chain of narration.

Al Salamu Alaikum Akhee
Even if the explanation he put forward is correct (that is yet to be checked), than that is a point for Ahl Al Sunnah wa AlJama'ah [May Allah be pleased with them].
Ahl Al-Sunnah are the ones who fully respect and love Our Mothers, the wives of our Prophet [Salah Allah 'Alaihi wa Salam]. As for them, you can get from their books insults to the Prophet's wives: 'Aisha, Hafsa, Um Habiba, Safiya, Sawada [May Allah be pleased with them].
I recall I read in the arabic forum a saying of Imam Al-Nawawi (I don't think the writer referenced it), he said: "Whoever claimed that that the wives of the Prophet are his mothers then he has spoken the truth, and whoever claims that they are not his mothers than he has spoken the truth ... cause Verily, they are the Mothers of the Believers, not the Mothers of the Hypocrites".
I can get you from their books insults to Ibn Abbas, and his father [May Allah be pleased with them], refer to Tafseer Al-Qumi for example ... actually don't it is a waste of time.
Not only that they also transgressed against his daughters, with the exception of Fatima [May Allah be pleased with them all]. Where you will find that a number of them negate that the rest are even his daughters. One of their writers [May Allah disgrace him] said about the two daugters that married 'Uthman [May Allah be pleased with him]: "And you have seen that they are not proven to be the daughters of the best of messengers [Salah Allah 'Alaihi wa Salam], and that their is not virtue that they have that would make them more honored or a leading position on others".
And we seek refuge in Allah from this disrespect to Ahl Bayt Al-Nabi.
We ask:
فَأَيُّ الْفَرِيقَيْنِ أَحَقُّ بِالْأَمْنِ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ (81)
"(So) which of the two parties has more right to be in security? If you but know." (part of: Al-An'am 6:81)
So we hold the household of the prophet in the elevated status that they deserve, we love them, we abstain from excessiveness or any form of disrespect to them, just as we do to the companions.
As Abu Bakr said: "والله لقرابة رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أحب إلي أن أصل من قرابتي "
"By Allah, it is more loved to me to make Silah (love/treat well/visit/look after their matters) to the Qarabah of the Prophet than to my own".
And we say as he [May Allah be pleased with him said].
So, if you know this, that would mean (dum dum dum...)...
that even if the explanation of the verses is as he mentioned, and I reiterate that I didn't check the meanings of the verses myself, then still he has no argument, rather it is a point for us.
Sorry for the elongation and I hope someone would answer your question (smile)

The Qur'an has no errors or contradictions in it right?
Obviously,Yes it has no errors at all.
, then why are there TWO DIFFERENT things that Allah says, is the ONLY reward that Muhammad may ask of his people?
The way the question is phrased shows no respect to Allah or Quran!! Yet, the answer to his sarcastic question is: Such understanding is because the one who asked this question does not know Arabic at all and he relies on English translation which is not the Quran!!!
42:23 Say: I do not ask of you any reward for it but love for my near relatives.
This is a very bias translation!!! the provided translation is a word to word translation and does not give the fully meaning at all. The way it is translated is one of opinions which was stated about this verse.
Here is a another translation that is based on another opinion that interpreted this verse:
{Say: "No reward do I ask of you for this except to be kind to me for my kinship with you.} [ Sura Al-Shura: 23]
Brother Hamdi quotation gives most of the answer.
That Love for the Ahul bayt IS the way to Allah.
We do not disagree with that at all. The love to the family of the prophet is something we get closer to Allah with. It is something we seek Allah's reward for. Thus, I do not see what the person who asked such question wants!!! He addresses us with such question as if we dislike the family of the prophet. However, this love is put as Allah and His Messenger described for us without putting anyone a rank higher than it should be since all of them are slaves to Allah and all of them are Human beings.
This love is moderate and not extreme and it is put in a way that shows respect and love at same time to the family of the prophet, which Shiaa cliam to support, starting from Ali, Fatima Al-zahra, Alhassan and Alhussain and their off-spring ( May Allah be pleased with them all). Actually i wish the Shiaa at least get the character and the manners of the family of the prophet members!!!
So as a concussion, Although the verse has many meanings but still we all agree on and we do acknowledge the love to the Family of the prophet so the question itself is silly and ignorant!!!
