Question Sarf Book : شذا العرف في فن الصرف ?

Assalamaualiakum

I was suggested a beginners book on Sarf named " شذا العرف في فن الصرف" by the local imaam. he said that its author is a Jordaian

Does anyone have any experience with " شذا العرف في فن الصرف "

Is this book any good for Non-Arabic beginners ?

Assalamu Alaikum,

I went through this book a few years ago ... It was pretty good, Masha'Allah. However, the book wasn't written for non-Arabic speakers. Also, the author, Al-Hamlaawi, was Egyptian not Jordanian

As a rule, beginner students shouldn't study anything that they dont intend to memorize. This is why scholars explain short books like Al-Ajuroomiyyah or Al-Alfiyyah in grammar, Al-Waraqaat and Jam' Al-Jawaami' in usool ....etc.

Shathaa' Al-U'rf is a text book. It shouldnt be studied since it is impossible to memorize it. Use one of the books in the other thread as a starting point, and come back to Shathaa' Al-Urf once you have a good understanding of Sarf insha'Allah.

Nothing wrong with studying the book, go ahead, and you don't need to worry about memorizing it either.
