Default do the shafi's believe Aisha married without hitting puberty

i heard that the shafi' school of thought says that once you hit 15 years of age then you hit puberty. is that true? so that means that believe that Aisha married the Prophet peace be upon him when she didn't hit puberty?

also, it is said that Aisha used to play with her dolls when she married the Prophet. They say that this shows that she wasn’t mentally mature yet to marry the Prophet (peace be upon him). How do we address this?

You misunderstood something. They are not saying that one HAS TO REACH fifteen years of age to hit puberty. It is possible for one to hit puberty before that, however if no signs show (menstruation, pubic hairs, etc.) then once that person hits age fifteen then that person is considered as hitting puberty regardless.

Sheikh Munajjid says…

A woman is deemed to have reached puberty when one of four things happens:

1 – When she reaches the age of fifteen.
2 – When her pubic hair grows, which is hair around the private parts.
3 – When she emits maniy (fluid released at climax).
4 – When she starts to menstruate.

brother, I think you meant "if she doesn't go through one of them".

Just fixing the question, that's all (smile).

well, she would most likely be physically able for intercourse.

it is very unlikely that a woman is 15 and she doesn't begin to form breasts, grow pubic hairs, etc...

also, you have to remember the general islamic principle "don't cause harm to your self or others". If there happens to be a woman who is fifteen and hits puberty, but if she were to engage in sexual intercourse and get harmed by it, then she has to wait.

you have to apply that general principle to every situation.

similar example is....

If drinking orange juice is harmful to a certain person's health then orange juice is haram for that person.

thanks, but you didn't answer my question regarding the dolls.

doesn't Aisha playing with dolls show that she was still too immature to get married?

trustingod, i remember a brother saying that he knew someone who is 23, and she still keeps a teddy bear. besides, we see in her life how she was so mature throughout the marriage, and that she was fit enough for it - that's why it continued so perfectly.
