Maktaba al-Shamela in a bundle..

Salam 'alaykum,

A while ago I had downloaded Shamela with all the books on it, probably a few hundred books and it included the main things such as Aqeedah, Tafseer, Fiqh Hadith books etc, then it had also a section of all the books by Al-Albaani (rahimahullah) etc.

Does someone recognize this particular program? I can't find it anymore!

Btw, It's not the very large bundles such as 1.8GB or 3GB, it was far less...

I have it with me and its like 789 megabites.

thats because shameela keeps getting updated so the more books, the more memory. So while I have the lesser one, I as well dont have as many of the books as th current ones do.

the only thing is, how can I transfer almost 800 megabite to you in one single shot.

I have the latest version of Shamela which version 3.11 and is around 9 GB. If you are living in Saudi I may be able to help you out to get a hard copy Insha Allah. Well, I do not know if you can download it in full from the net....could be there somewhere out there..Insha Allah..

while we're still at this, can someone help me with how to search for a particular narrator of a hadeeth from the page where a hadeeth is loaded? Meaning, when you're reading a hadeeth and the isnaad of the hadeeth is displayed as well, so if I want to search scholars' opinion about a particular narrator, how can I do it directly from that page?

I have decided to download all the books individually, one by one, rather than try to look for the same bundle I had seen a few months ago. However, I got a problem now, all my books are messed up and in the wrong places, I got too many books I don't need and some of the buttons don't work as I was trying to delete it manually...

My question is, how do you uninstall it? I can't find the button for it..

I don't think the search capabilities of shameela are of that level brother. You may be able to look up the narrator in another window of shamela but it will not open and search all the works until it finds the narrator being discusses in the same window box. That is because it is designed to open up these works and then search within them, not to somehow form a spybot without even opening them up and find exactly what your looking for.

There are two ways:

(1) Highlight the narrator's name
(2) Pull down the 'bahth' menu and click 'tarajim'

Or, simply highlight the narrator's name and click 'Ctrl+T'

its a program where classical arabic works were typed up in a .bok file.

the benefit of this is that the sheer size factor is like 50 times smaller. So if regular works are imputed into a 10 megabyte pdf, in the shamela version it would only be like half a megabyte.

it also has a wonderful search engine and index system which outshines any other format that these works are in.

I have purchased a computer with Windows 7 pre installed when i installed Shamela its giving weard characters in the menu column.

Can any one help me with this?

remedy for the weird characters:


windows xp


Control Panel
Regional and Language Options
Languages option
Choose supplemental Languages support
Choose Select Install files for complex script and right-to-left languages (including Thai )
Apply
Insert windows cd if asked
Choose Advanced pilih Languages for non-unicode programs
On chooding select languages pilih Arabic (Saudi Arabia), click OK
OK again
Restart windows.

The language bar should be visible as part of your taskbar now.
AR ( arab ) dan EN ( english / latin )


windows vista / windows 7 :


Control Panel
Clock, Language and Region
Regional and Language Options
On choosing Keyboards and Languages, click change keyboards.
3 options (choose General ) choose add, choose Arabic ( Saudi Arabia) kemudian pilih Arabic (102)
OK
On same window. Choose Language Bar.
Tick Show the language bar as transparent when inactive & of those below according to your preference.
Back to Regional and Language->Administrative
Choose Language for non-unicode programs->change system locale,
Choose Arabic (saudi arabia)
OK
Restart

then it should be fine insha Allah.
